Destination NSW

Destination NSW is the lead government agency for the New South Wales tourism and major events sectors. A major part of their role is to develop and deliver initiatives that drive visitor growth throughout the state contributing towards achieving the NSW Government’s goal of tripling expenditure within the State’s visitor economy by 2030.

Destination NSW delivers the NSW First program dedicated to assisting tourism businesses around the State to develop, promote and sell their tourism products. The program includes face to face workshops and online webcasts that offer ‘how-to’ insights on a range of topics for the tourism industry, with new events added to the calendar throughout the year.

Destination NSW has partnered with Ecotourism Australia, the nation’s peak body for sustainable and ecotourism, to provide eligible NSW visitor economy businesses fully funded access to the pre-certification Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard. By measuring your business performance, you can make informed decisions and take steps to enhance and promote your sustainable practices. Destination NSW has partnered with EarthCheck, the world’s leading sustainable advisory and scientific benchmarking company for tourism, to fully fund a second round of Sustainability Skills Micro-credentials for NSW visitor economy businesses. Destination NSW has partnered with the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) to provide free access for internationally-ready NSW tour, attraction and accommodation businesses to access three ATEC Host online learning modules: China Host, India Host and Accessible & Inclusive Host. The training programs show how to effectively attract and service visitors from key markets by being culture-ready, product and service ready and marketing and trade ready, plus how to work effectively with key travel distributors. All programs are online and self-directed; express your interest here.

Tourism Australia (TA) is the Australian Government agency responsible for growing demand for Australia as a tourism destination, both in Australia and overseas.
