A new carpark is on its way to Walton Street, Picton. This modern facility with a second parking level will replace the existing ground-level carpark and deliver more than 200 spaces, including accessible parking on the ground floor and additional spaces on the rooftop level. Once complete, the project will add 125 extra parking spaces to Picton. The rooftop level will be easily accessed via stairs and a vehicle ramp.
The EV charging station will be temporarily moved to the Davison Lane Carpark and then NRMA will install two charging stations at the new carpark. The RV dump point will be decommissioned, and we are currently investigating new locations. There are other RV dump points in Appin and Warragamba.
The carpark will take around six months to construct, starting in November 2025 and should be completed in May 2026.
The new carpark is a key focus area of the Wollondilly Cultural Precinct (WCP) and will support the Government Services Building (GSB), now under construction and due for completion in 2026. This project will help replace and expand local parking for the future.
As Wollondilly continues to grow, demand for parking in the civic, cultural and commercial hub in Picton will increase. This project ensures facilities keep pace with the needs of visitors, workers and the community, while protecting the town’s unique heritage and amenity.
The project is jointly funded through NSW Government’s SVPA grant and Council’s development contributions and we appreciate their support.
Where will we park during construction?
While construction is underway, the Walton Street Carpark will be closed to the public. To ensure there is adequate parking, we have secured temporary all-day parking at the following locations:
• Picton Bowling Club – parking will be located to the side and around the back of the Club
• Picton Courthouse – parking will be available behind the Courthouse.
All other parking locations in Picton remain unchanged.
